Community Birth Midwifery Expert Witness

Medical malpractice cases regarding home birth and birthing centers take require the expertise of a provider who has long served in those spaces.

With extensive history working with legislative issues concerning midwifery, birthing centers, and women’s health in Florida since 2008, I found myself often being asked for guidance from midwives and parents alike navigating adverse birth events. Eventually this led me to my role with the Florida Council of Licensed Midwifery and subsequently accepting the nomination for Council Chair which has been an honor I do not take lightly.

For the past 5 years I have worked alongside legal teams to support families navigating loss, as well as midwives defending their practice. It has been such a honor to serve both populations with a level headed, outside perspective assuring that no stone is left unturned.

To date, I have been involved in providing expert witness support to legal teams regarding cases involving community midwifery in many states across the US. Home births, birthing centers, and other midwifery related cases.
